Hi there! I’m Leah Teigen, an artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I use my work to explore what it feels like to be small, primarily through the lense of animal subjects and/or characters. I use their vulnerability to grapple with questions like What is power? and What roles do I play in the various systems around me— both natural and man-made?

My sketchbook practice is an integral part of my workflow, I often pair sketches with stream of consciousness writings and wonderings to highlight the themes I’m exploring.
